At Premier Eye Care, we believe the best frames in the world deserve the best lenses. Although we have access to all brands of ophthalmic lenses, our staff always recommends Essilor brand lenses to our patients. Essilor has been improving the way people see for nearly 150 years and in that time has created the most beautiful, comfortable, and durable corrective lens designs in the wolrd. Their Varilux Physio Enhanced progressive bifocal gives you the sharpest and widest field of view in any progressive bifocal lens on the market. Essilor's Crizal non-glare lenses are the most durable and easiest to clean and their Thin & Lite lens design is thinner and flatter than any other made today.
The recent increase in lens coatings and options can be overwhelming to most patients, especially if you are purchasing your first pair of glasses. Our highly trained staff will help guide you through this process. By asking a few basic questions, we can quickly recommend any available options that will make your corrected vision sharper and more comfortable while increasing the aestheic appearance of your glasses. This will assist you in evaluating the options that will most closely meet your visual goals.
There are three options we recommend to all patients. First, an ultraviolet protective coating will block 100% of the UV light rays, from the sun, that constantly bombards your eyes. This coating helps protect you from developing cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. Second, antiglare options, such as Crizal Avance, help relieve eyestrain for anyone who uses a computer or works under bright lights. It will allow you to work or study more comfortably for longer periods of time. Finally, we recommend all plastic lenses have a scratch resistant coating applied. Nearly all ophthalmic lenses are now made of a plastic polymer resin. Although much lighter than glass lenses, plastic is softer and tends to scratch easily. A scratch resistant coating will nearly eliminate this problem, under normal wearing conditions.
